NEWBORN SESSION

NEWBORN SESSION

Experience Guide

  • Pacifiers can be SUPER helpful during a newborn session. I would encourage you to have one on hand so that we can use that as our first line of defense if baby starts to get fussy. Sometimes all they need is to suckle for a minute or two and then they fall right back to sleep.  But of course, if that's not doing the trick and they need to stop to nurse, we can absolutely do that!

  • The environment should ideally be free from loud noises & distraction. If you have other young children that will be participating in the session, I would encourage you to have someone (daddy, grandma, or whoever!) ready to tend to them after they are finished getting their pictures done. The last thing I want is for you to be worried about keeping track of them and making sure they stay out of trouble. I want you to feel free to stay and relax while I finish taking pictures of baby.

  • About 30 minutes before the session, grab a warm washcloth and gently wipe of baby's face to remove any eye goop, flakey skin, or dried milk. This will probably them mad, but that's ok! It's actually helpful for them to have some awake time before we get started so that they are nice and ready for a nap.

  • Also, it helps baby stay nice and cozy if the environment is somewhat warm. Something as simple as bumping up the thermostat a few degrees and turning off your ceiling fan can make a big difference!

It's amazing how small details can make a huge difference! Something as simple as clearing off your night stand and placing a vase of fresh flowers in the center can really elevate the WOW factor of your images. It will add a thoughtful, curated look to your gallery and plus, who doesn't love fresh flowers!
